It’s a nice trip from Miradoux as we aren’t walking on road so much as going through.
Boys are back on the up, an easy day away from road walking and back through the paddocks.
It’s been a month of walking now, and we are all working at a different pace to home. Every day has the same routine even though we are walking to a new location. The boys are never surprised with the next thing on the list to do, even if they need reminding from time to time.
Tom is in sync and loves his days, he’s totally into where he likes to walk and where he isn’t interested in walking and would rather take a ride in a backpack. He has alot of control over how his days work.
On the recommendation of Jean-Marc we spend the night with the incredibly generous Isabel at Gite Etoile Occitane on the main street in Lectoure. She spends a lot of time making sure we have the space that our unusual group needs, especially as we hadn’t booked ahead. The gite is a perfect place to stop, highly recommended. She has created a real “family” space where its easy to talk and gain connection with your fellow pilgrims. She also spends a lot of time giving us advice on where she recommends for us to stay in the upcoming days. We spend time with the very nice Anja from Germany who is riding from her home to Santiago. Shared experiences give so much back to you here. Its a beautiful place we are lucky to find.
It’s a bit unusual for us to be in a busy town with a movie theatre nearby so while Lectoure is known for it’s thermal baths, and many pilgrims partake, our crew have other plans. An evening spent watching “The Playmobile Movie” on the big screen in French is surprisingly a big hit amongst the media starved children.
The confidence we have gained and being such a positive space is encouraging. I think we’ve proven that we can actually pull it off which is exciting. More to come.
