Camino Day 43 – Navarrenx rest day

September 26, 2019 by Mark McCondach

It wasn’t planned to be a rest day but waking up in the morning with super weary bodies means the choice is made. The campground is nice so that helps too.

We haven’t had a day off since Conques over a month ago so we don’t feel too guilty.

It gives us the opportunity to poke around the old town of Naverrenx which we didn’t get to last night. Its a history buffs dream as its an ancient fortified town with the high stone city walls still mostly there. The older boys have a cracking time exploring the exposed walls, I’ve taken Tom for a slightly more sedate look about in the old bits. Old cannons are always good to goof about with.

The afternoon is spent lazing at the campground eating cheap food from the Carrefour. Batteries recharged. It looks like a good idea as the resources kind of dry up over the next three days to St Jean so we will need to carry a bit to get through it.
