Slow start to the day as it sometimes takes hours to raise a 15 year old from their slumber. More time for pain au chocolats I suppose.
Off out of the city and into another dry area for shops and food so more being creative when it comes to filling ourselves up. We load up in Navarrenx with supplies and head out into a great shaded forest track for the first half of the day, still easy going. Tom even gets to stretch his legs on an interesting bit of trail. Stopping for lunch at a crossroads/pate factory and then we quickly get going again.
Still hot as we roll through towns, boys are starting to fade. Luckily we are soon at Gite Bohoteguia which is amazing. Run by Simone who clearly cares alot about the pilgrim experience, its everything you could hope for. Great food, spotless facilities, great price. Generous. Makes for an easier day than it could have been.
Gite Bohoteguia is massive, a working dairy farm with multiple accommodation blocks and a huge kitchen/common area but it doesn’t feel soulless at all. Simone and her husband Manu have genuine care for helping the pilgrims come through and again, it feels like being welcomed into a family home. The older boys break through a stiff language barrier and spend the afternoon playing touch rugby with their son, their wee daughter Fanny is a bit more shy as is Tom but he quickly eyes some of their toys which are kindly shared with him, we laze about snacking. Lots of good guidance from a very busy Simone who takes time to sit with us and talk through our upcoming plans. Super kind people.
