Back to road walking again out of Lectoure but then the going is easy. I think we have achieved peak baguette and cheese consumption as it’s wearing a bit thin. Having said that, it’s still completely delicious and it’s not the worst food to fall back on. French cuisine of the highest order.
It also looks like the boys have discussed every topic they can muster up so Max spends the day chewing my ear off over computer games he can remember. Nate is with Alissa and he also talks non-stop but of his future Camino dreams. Its a constant surprise listening to their ideas and thoughts as they are “released” I suppose from the constant barrage of technology and entertainment. Creativity, consideration and long form thought processes. One more gift from the Camino.
It’s an easy drag to Le Romieu but by the end we are keen to get there. It’s hard to go past the playground at the entrance to town when we arrive for Tom as he is always a good sport in the backpack all day so you have to let him have a blat. Kids gotta kid.
Le Romieu is a little town that looks pretty darn ancient. Theres a great market going on when we arrive with pottery stalls and a band, the bars around the town square are going non stop. Perfect place for a drink. Staying at the campground not the edge of town is super handy, it has a pool, playground, snack bar and a petting zoo for Tom to lose his mind in. And it’s cheap. Win win win. Campground is full of English caravans enjoying their last trip to the continent before Brexit gifts them passport control and customs inspections. Bad luck, chaps.
