More days, more walking. Very similar terrain, mix of roads and off road tracks. Hot as buggery however and with no towns in between the start and finish means theres no water to keep us going. Tricky.
We are in wine country now and grapes seem to be the primary crop and are tempting us every step. Apparently the local farmers don’t enjoy the pelerins as we steal the crop too much. We manage to resist the urge to rob them blind.
Montreal is a little town but it has a nice square with a friendly bartender which is always a bonus on a hot day. Also a proper little epicerie which makes it easy to camp just out of town in the grounds of a gite. Our original plan was to wild camp at a lake but it apparently is one of the few places where camping pilgrims aren’t well liked. So Plan B it is.
We manage to rustle up a few odd tins from town and begin our walk out to a large old farmhouse which serves as the local camping area for the walkers. Very French in that silly sort of way. It’s a beautiful location and we throw our tents up quickly and put tired feet up. We are lucky with home made play equipment that Tom and Max put to the test.
