Another day rolling along. New day, same paths.
Pretty offroads and easy walking. Tom is lost in his Story Pirates podcast all day and doesn’t walk much. Both older boys are buzzing along after a hefty breakfast at the slightly rough communal gite in Pomps. Weather is sort of holding off, cloudy and grim but still hot even though we are solidly in September.
We get away dazzlingly early and peel off the 9.5kms to Arthez Bearn before 10:30 and grab some lunch at the boulangerie there. Pretty little town but we are quickly through it.
More easy walking and we drift into Maslacq and find a pretty great gite, Gite La Halte. A lovely generous host, Chantal, who tells us of a French friend of hers now living in Gisborne of our all places, we tell her we’ll stop in and say hi next time we head back to NZ. Gite La Halte is a big, old country house with a million rooms. We spend the afternoon playing Ludo and cooking dinner while the boys run races in the back yard. Easy day.
