Camino Day 7 – St Alban sur Limagnole to Aumont Aubrac

August 21, 2019 by Mark McCondach

A much sunnier day and we are straight into it. It’s a rolling 17kms to the campground, everyone is feeling a bit more energy filled after the day before.

Tom is happy in the backpack investigating cows and the other two spend most of the day making up stories to each other as they walk.

It’s a bit tricky with a 3 year old and a lack of public toilet facilities and Tom gets caught short in Les Estrets. Toilet stops have become a tactical consideration.

There’s not too much between the two towns and we carry our own lunch from the SPAR on the exit from St Alban.

Aumont Aubrac is a cool little town, it’s much busier than St Alban but with a couple of strategic problems for the budget camper. The supermarket is waaay north of the town on the highway and the campground is waaaay south. This makes for interesting logistical problems if you’re on a budget. Alissa takes the hit of adding an extra 5-6 kms to the day as she wants to look at the pilgrim shop in town. A week in and her shoes already need replacing, they’ve caused way too many problems. She & Nate walk up to the supermarket totally underestimating the effort required after a big day. Tired feet mean an 11 euro taxi back makes for a good choice.

It’s a nice campground, quiet. Alissa has been struggling with her feet today, hopefully new shoes and all the blister work helps.
