Day 14 – The quiet revolution

June 14, 2019 by Mark McCondach

After a long day previous, and a successful one really with everyone getting through a bit of a tough training, a minor coup takes place.

Alissa and I are informed that the boys are overworked with trips to the beach, snorkelling tropical corals and eating out pretty much everyday (such a tough life) that they need a day at home. So that’s what we do. The boys laze on a couch reading books while Tom and I play outside. It’s easy to see that Tom is missing playcentre a lot, he regularly tells stories about his friends there, makes up tales about what he got up to at playcentre yesterday, I’ve heard a story about Karlene saving Jet from a fire about 15 times since we’ve been here. It’s his favourite place in the world clearly, support your local playcentre please.

Once the boys have had their fill of sofa life we get them to agree to a trip (not too far!) to Charlies at Titikaveka for lunch. Alissa and I head out after that to test out a spot at Fruits of Rarotonga that Neil at Cook Islands Coffee Company recommended as a great diving spot. The weather isn’t too great, the wind is blowing a bit making it a bit murky but its really promising. We will be back to test this place further when the weather is right.

Everyone is feeling tired and a bit rundown, a movie to wrap things up and then tomorrow I think we need to get out of the house early and make a day of it.
