Another slow start to a slightly cloudy day. Boys are grating on each other again (and on us), it happens, slow and steady is the idea which can be difficult to execute at times.
Best option is a trip to Neil’s for a coffee and a croissant to get the day movin’.
Boys are well into opening coconuts now that they’ve learned the trick to husking them without a spike from Jake and Kura yesterday. Coconut pieces are spread over the front lawn, coconut water fills Nate’s bottles. He’s productive at his work. He spends most of day wandering around with a green coconut shoot hanging from his mouth.
Manage to get on the bikes eventually and spin our way down to the Hidden Spirit Café in Titikaveka. We’ve cycled past the sign that claims the “best cheesecake in Raro” enough times that our defences are weekend and it’s cheesecake time. We have the cheesecake and to be fair, its pretty bloody good.
After a wander around what are some very impressive tropical gardens (Tom takes a deep interest and completes heavy investigations into the fishes and an eel that Nate discovers in a glade) we head back to Fruits of Rarotonga for a swim and a snorkel around the reef. Yeah, we do it a lot but it’s a tropical paradise, what else are we gonna do. The older boys time themselves racing up and down coconut trees. Serious injury is narrowly avoided for another day.
Heading back to the house feeling rundown, Vili’s Noisy Rooster at the end of our street is given a shot because I really can’t be dealing with cooking today. 4 out of 5 of the household are stoked. Like KFC but much, much better. Vili knows what he’s doing, I’ll give him that.
