A slow day as everyone feels a bit rundown from working so hard in the heat the day before. The boys spend the morning editing gopro footage into what they believe to be high comedy.
They seem to be really into it. Regular Spielbergs. Max has also taken ownership of his writing and is recording his time here every day as well. It’s been a real bonus he’s committed to it so well. Hopefully it lasts for a while yet.
Alissa and Tom spend the morning out on their own to get out of the house while I’m back with the boys. Soon enough we all decide to head out to the rocky beach over the road and have a bit of a picnic down there while hounding hermit crabs.
The neighbours’ grandchildren drop by our place in the afternoon, Tom is super taken with the 4-year-old, Eden. He trails her around telling her that he likes her, angling for a hug. Eden is far more interested in playing soccer with Nate sadly. Tom decides to take on referees’ role and blow a pretend whistle, this seems to fill the emotional gap for him.
A quiet afternoon is spent finishing watching a movie and reading. It feels like years since we have been operating at this pace.
