We have got a couple of days to complete the admin tasks for the Camino in Le Puy.
Alissa and I head off early in the morning with Tom to get a coffee in the old part of town at Aguilhe. It’s all twisting tight medieval streets and some of the door lintels have years inscribed on them like “1673”.
Because we are carrying everything turtle style on out backs we need to send some items forward to Santiago to be there when we arrive so do a bit of packing and organising.
The afternoon is spent climbing up to a thousand year old chapel on top of a volcanic plug, St Michel d’Aguilhe. Steep, hot and 100% worth it. Sights across Le Puy and a round chapel filled with art.
Out to dinner later on near the cathedral in town at Aline + H where we have our first pilgrim’s meal, sausages or ham with a pile of green lentils. A vegetarian burger for Alissa. It’s delicious and cheap. Last day in Le Puy tomorrow and then it’s go time.
