It’s getting to be the time where we stop with our extravagant Parisian ways and begin to prepare for our Camino.
But there’s still a bit of time to see a little more.
We head east towards Sacre Coeur to see the sights and let Alissa do some street photography around Montmartre. We are apparently up early enough on a Sunday that the streets are quiet and lonely. I suppose all the frenchies were up all of Saturday night drinking absinthe and giving skirt the eye as it slid past the bar at 2am.
It’s still quiet at the top of the hill when we arrive at Sacre Coeur and we decide it’s time to give in to one of Alissa’s great vices and order crepes. We find a little creperie off to the side that looks just perfect, as she notes ‘if the guy making the crepes isn’t smoking a cigarette, are you even in Paris?’
Sacre Coeur fills up and Alissa notes the place is heavy on the pickpockets. At our second cafe stop of the morning we casually watch as a band of Roma absolutely work over a couple as they come to the top of the stairs, there’s a bit of a scuffle, and the older boys have their eyes opened. The pickpockets are good at what they do, for sure.
As the day wears on we slowly meander our way back to the flat and begin packing down for our trip to Le Puy and the starting point of our camino.
